About Silverwood
Silverwood Elementary School educates students in grades TK-5. Current enrollment is about 530 students. There are two to three classes per grade level and class size can range from the high 20's to low 30's. Enrollment dictates class configurations and some years there may be one or more combination classes. Silverwood also provides education to special education students in a variety of settings. There are autism classes for each grade level, a resource program for students with a learning disability, occupational therapy and speech and language pathology services.
Silverwood implements a daily English Language program for students whose native language is not English. The Silverwood PTA is a very active group. Information about our PTA can be found at https://silverwoodpta.com/. Our school's School Site Council (SSC) meets monthly to develop, implement and oversee school goals. The SSC is comprised of parents and staff. The 2022-2023 school will include an after school program called CARES.
Silverwood students attend weekly music, STEAM and library classes.
Silverwood has established a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. an approach schools use to promote school safety and good behavior. With PBIS, Silverwood teaches students about behavior expectations and strategies. The focus of PBIS is prevention, not punishment.
Silverwood is one of 30 elementary schools in the MDUSD. Most 5th grade students feed into Pine Hollow Middle School.
Silverwood has a long tradition of excellence, having recently been designated a CA Distinguished school - twice - in the past five years.
