Before & After-School Care

Silverwood Elementary offers two on-campus programs to support families with before- and after-school care needs:

MDUSD CARES Expanded Learning Program

The CARES Program is operated by MDUSD and provides safe, supportive, and enriching after-school care.

Availability:
– After school only
– Open to students in grades 1–5 and late TK/Kindergarten friends (those in the PM TK/K classes)

Program highlights include homework help, enrichment activities, physical fitness, and snacks. The program is staffed by trained professionals and runs every school day from dismissal until 6:00 PM.

Summer CARES / Expanded Learning Program

June 8 – July 2 | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Silverwood | FREE (meals included)

CARES, operated by Mount Diablo Unified School District, offers a full-day summer program with enrichment activities and optional academic support.

Program Options

  • Enrichment (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Games, activities, and fun learning
  • Attendance Recovery (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, optional): Math and language arts with teachers

How to Apply

1. Apply for CARES (Required)
Use the CARES registration page → search “Silverwood” under “See in-person programs in your area.”

2. Attendance Recovery (Optional)
Turn in the AR application to your child’s teacher or the office
(Copies available if needed)

3. Emergency Card (Required)
Return completed form to your child’s teacher or the office
(Copies available in English/Spanish)

➡️ Steps 1 & 3 are required for all students
➡️ Step 2 is optional and based on staffing

Good to Know

  • Students are placed on a waitlist after applying
  • Placement notifications begin April 13
  • Students may attend part-day or full-day

Lads & Lassies Childcare

Lads & Lassies is a licensed childcare provider located on the Silverwood campus. While they share space on site, they operate independently and are not managed by MDUSD or Silverwood staff.
